🌱 Soaking & Sprouting Instructions (Mason Jar)
- Measure: Add 30 grams (approximately 2 tablespoons) of dry seed to a clean mason jar with a sprouting lid.
- Soak: Cover seeds with fresh, lukewarm water and soak for 6–12 hours. Drain and rinse thoroughly.
- Rinse & Drain: Rinse twice daily with cool water. Swirl gently and drain completely. Keep jar tilted at a 45-degree angle so excess water does not pool.
- Grow: Continue rinsing and draining for 5–7 days, or until sprouts reach your desired length.
- Final Drying Step: For best storage life, do not rinse on the final day before harvesting. Allow sprouts to dry naturally in the jar before your final drain.
🌱 Growing Barley in Trays (Optional Method)
- Soak seed 6–12 hours before planting.
- Sow evenly over moist soil in a shallow tray.
- Cover with another tray and add light weight for 2–3 days to encourage strong root growth.
- Keep soil moist (not wet) during germination.
- After 2–3 days, remove weight and expose to bright indirect light or grow lights — light is required for healthy green growth.
- Harvest at your preferred stage, typically 1–3 weeks.
🌬 Drying & Storage
- After the final rinse, drain extremely thoroughly.
- Allow sprouts to dry well before refrigerating.
- Store in an airtight container lined with a paper towel for moisture control.
- Replace the paper towel as needed if it becomes damp.
Properly drained, dried, and moisture-controlled sprouts stay fresh up to 10 days in the refrigerator.
🌾 Yield & Value
- 30 grams (approximately 2 tablespoons) of dry seed yields 2–3 cups of fresh sprouts.
- One 150 g bag makes approximately 5 batches.
- At $5.00 per bag, that equals about $1.00 per batch, or approximately $0.33–$0.50 per cup of fresh sprouts.
